Deal reached to keep Wausau's Legion Golf Course open

A deal has been reached for the sale of the financially troubled American Legion Golf Course in Wausau.

In a news release to Newsline 9, investor Richard Dudley announced he will provide the venture funding, for an undisclosed sum and entrepreneur Dan Maas will revamp the restaurant, bar and course operations. Maas will manage the property.

Dudley is the chairman of  Dudley Investments, LLC and a long-time member of the American Legion Post 10.

Maas is a well-known restaurateur and the owner of the Chatterbox in Wausau and one of the founders of Wish Steakhouse in Weston.

The course is the only public nine-hole golf course in the city.

Post 10 will be allowed to keep some space in the building for its official business, like providing military honor guards for funerals.
