Marshfield factory fire causes more than $100,000 in damage

A Marshfield factory has stopped operations after an explosive fire yesterday morning.

Marshfield fire officials said it happened around midnight at the Quality Ingredients Corporation building on East Depot Street.

Authorities said it took crews more than five hours to put out the flames.

The fire chief said it caused more than $100,000 in damage.

"Most of the damage was contained internally, into the process itself, but externally on the roof, the damage to the unit on top of the roof was significant," said Marshfield Fire Chief, James Schmidt.

Company officials said they don't believe any of their inventory was damaged. The investigation is still ongoing.
