Four-year-old fights for his life after Wausau crash
MARSHFIELD (WAOW) -
The community is rallying around a four-year-old boy who is in critical condition after a car crash in Wausau on Saturday. Right now, he's in a Marshfield hospital fighting for his life.
"It's day by day, minute by minute," those are the thoughts rushing through Natalie Fletcher's head.
"You never, ever think that something like this will happen, ever," Fletcher told Newsline 9.
Her son, Jordan Dixon was involved in a serious car crash in Wausau on Saturday. Authorities say Michael Dixon, 24, was driving and was pronounced dead at the scene.
"He's a little boy that's lost a lot in the past few weeks. He just lost his grandma two weeks ago and now his father," Fletcher said.
Young Jordan was rushed to the hospital. His mother says he's had brain surgery. But despite all that, she's staying positive.
"I'm just happy he's alive. That's all I can be," Fletcher added.
Fletcher says Jordan has a long road ahead. But she says the support from the community is helping her get through it.
"He gained a lot of love and support out of this and a lot of unknown friends. He's gained a lot from this trial, as well as loss," Fletcher told Newsline 9.
Several benefits are in the works to help with Jordan's medical costs.
"I could have never imagined it. I never thought it would be like this. I thought it would be family and friends standing by my side through this. I had no idea this little boy would impact so many people," Fletcher said.
Fletcher says she's seen support from people she's never even met.
"It's the most uplifting feeling in the entire world; it keeps me going every day."
