MERRILL (WAOW) - A judge Wednesday ordered a 35-year-old Merrill man to stand trial on charges accusing him of sexual misbehavior with four girls ranging in age from 10 to 16.
Corey C. Adams is charged with 10 felonies including sexual assault, exposing a child to harmful materials and child enticement, some involving incidents that police say occurred as far back as 2007. According to court records, Adams was charged as a repeat offender, making the potential punishments more severe.
Lincoln County Circuit Judge John Yackel ruled prosecutors presented enough evidence during Wednesday's preliminary hearing to warrant a trial.
Adams requested a new judge preside over the case. No date was immediately set for him to enter pleas to the charges.
Adams attorney, Jim Wedemeyer, said Adams will plead not guilty to the charges.
Police say the investigation of Adams started when investigators learned of some "inappropriate" text messages sent by him.
