Wis. maple syrup season is sweet

We're taking you inside the maple syrup process. Last year's warm weather took a toll, but cooler conditions this year have improved the maple syrup outlook in our state.

Newsline 9 traveled to Maple Hollow in Lincoln County.

"The smell, you know when you come in here and the syrup is cooking you can't beat that aroma," Maple Hollow owner Joe Polak said.

Polak says this is the first crop of the year. He says last year was one of the poorest on record.

"It started earlier than this, and by now we were done," Polak describes how this year compares to last year.

Even a man with as much experience as Polak says he's still has growing to do.

"Sounds simple but there's always tricks to learn and I'm only 60, but I'm still learning some of them," Polak said.
