Jeffery Trevino pleads not guilty in wife's murder
ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) -- A judge has entered a not guilty plea on behalf of a St. Paul man charged with killing his wife, who remains missing.
Thirty-nine-year-old Jeffery Trevino appeared in Ramsey County District Court on Friday on second-degree murder charges. The judge found probable cause to let the case proceed. A trial date has not yet been set.
Thirty-year-old Kira Trevino was last seen alive leaving the Mall of America on Feb. 21. Her car was found abandoned there. The criminal complaint says investigators found large amounts of blood in their home.
Relatives and other volunteers continued searching Friday at Keller Lake in Maplewood, drilling holes in the ice as they try to find her body. Kira Trevino's DNA was on a bloody pillow found in the area earlier this month.
