Medford hospital plans $16 M renovation, expansion

MEDFORD (WAOW) - Memorial Health Center announced Friday it received final approval for a $16 million renovation and expansion of its hospital.

Plans include building a new wing that will house a family center for babies being born, a new pharmacy and seven rooms to expand cancer care services, the hospital said. The emergency department will also be enlarged.

"The health care needs of Taylor, Price and Clark counties continue to grow and it is our intention to grow right along with them," Memorial Health Center President Gregg Olson said in a statement.

Construction is to start Monday with work slated to be completed by fall 2014.

Hospital leaders plan a groundbreaking ceremony next Friday.

The last major renovation and expansion of the hospital occurred in 2005.

Memorial Health Center is a partner with Aspirus of Wausau.
