Ministry Health Care merger completed

MILWAUKEE (WAOW) - Ministry Health Care, which has hospitals and clinics in Wisconsin and eastern Minnesota, said its merger with a St. Louis-based company was completed Monday.

Ministry Health Care, which owns Saint Clare's Hospital in Weston, says the merger with Ascension Health, first announced last fall, will aid in providing high-quality patient care. The change is not expected to affect jobs.

"This joining together is another expression of our ongoing commitment to strengthen Catholic healthcare," Ascension Health President Anthony Tersigni said in a statement.

Ascension Health, which was founded in 1999, operates more than 70 hospitals across the country. It says it is the largest Catholic and largest nonprofit health system in the nation.

Ministry Health Care has 15 hospitals, 46 clinics and nearly 12,000 employees.
