UW-Stevens Point assistant women's hockey coach Sarah Erickson was announced as one of the 23 players that will represent the United States at the International Ice Hockey Federation Women's World Championships in Ottawa, Ont., April 2-9.
"We are very thankful to have had someone with Sarah's knowledge and talent work with our program, share her experience, and inspire our ladies," said UW-Stevens Point head coach Ann Ninnemann. "We are very proud she is continuing her hockey career with Team USA and after her playing career is over, she will be an amazing coach."
The U.S. squad was chosen following a selection camp that began March 25 in Lake Placid, N.Y., and included 28 players. The U.S. Women's National Team trained at the Olympic Training Center in Lake Placid before departing for Ottawa.
Team USA has won four gold medals and 10 silvers in the 14 previous IIHF Women's World Championships. The U.S. has won four of the last six world championships (2005, 2008, 2009, 2011).
