Wood Co. K-9s receive GPS collars

Wood County sheriff's K-9s will now have GPS tracking systems. The sheriff says it's thanks to a donation.

If you remember, K-9 officer Toro was missing for almost two days last month. Officials say he ran away during the search of a car.

The sheriff says this is the first time a K-9 has run away, but he says the donation is still welcome.

"This is certainly a safeguard that we appreciate. Words can't describe how proud we are of the people that have stepped up to provide these GPS units for the dogs," Wood County Sheriff Thomas Reichert told Newsline 9.

The Wilderness Sportsmans Club of Wood County donated one of the collars. A family donated the other.
