Pacelli softball looks to continue dominance in 2013

The Pacelli softball team is coming off a 2012 season that saw the Cardinals win 25 games and take home the Division 3 state title.

But head coach Ann Molski will have to replace 5 starters from that state championship squad.

The Cardinals do return some key components though.

Senior short stop Anna Lensmire led the team in hitting last year, batting nearly .600 for the season, totaling 53 hits while driving in 33 RBI's.

Lensmire is just one element of a core group returning to the diamond for Pacelli.

Second baseman Lauren Jorgella will keep the middle infield intact alongside Lensmire. Emily Raczek returns for her junior season behind the plate and will help the Cardinals offensively as well.

The outfield features a promising return from sophomore Sami Kay Shafranski, who had an outstanding freshman year in 2012.

Although some less experienced players will have to step up to fill a few roles, Molski is confident that those girls will be ready to compete when it's time to take the field.
