Marathon County officials brainstorm security options
MARATHON COUNTY (WAOW) -
Marathon County officials are taking a closer look at courthouse security. A new task force has started brainstorming ideas to make the courthouse a safer place.
The group is made up of several county officials, including a judge, a probation officers and county board members. They were appointed in February.
So far, members have talked about adding part-time security officers to each court room and ways to enforce stricter safety measures.
"Finances are discussed, what's the need, what's the cost going to be associated with it , is it cost reasonable? We also talk about whether or not there are systems in place that maybe need to be looked at again if there is innovative ways of doing business that don't force us to add people," Lt. Chad Billeb said.
The group has one more meeting next month before it's expected to present its findings to the Public Health and Safety Committee.
