UPDATE: Power mostly restored to WPS customers

Wisconsin Public Service Corp. says power has been mostly restored after the wind and ice storm that hit primarily eastern Wisconsin.

Most of the 647 customers still without power were in Oshkosh, the utility said late Wednesday afternoon.

The wintry mix of weather knocked out power to about 7,000 customers early Wednesday, WPS spokeswoman Kelly Zagrzebski said.

Forecasters say rain and freezing rain are forecast overnight and into Thursday.

WPS is an investor-owned utility headquartered in Green Bay, with about 441,000 electric customers and 319,000 natural gas customers mostly in northeastern Wisconsin and Upper Michigan.
