Freezing rain could make for messy morning commute

Another blast of winter weather is set to hit central Wisconsin, and with it, slippery roads.

"You could be on a drive pavement and then the next thing you know you're on a patch of ice and you've lost control and now it's too late," said Sgt. Carrie Johnson, Wisconsin State Patrol.

Conditions can change quickly. State Patrol officials say it's important for drivers to pay attention.

"Create enough distance with the vehicle in front of you," said Johnson. "Just watch out for other drivers, wear your seatbelt and just slow down."

But don't expect everyone to follow that.

"We'll probably go to several crashes," said Johnson. "They'll lose control. Probably hit a guard rail, might side swipe another vehicle, end up in the median."

The storm could also knock out power. Wisconsin Public Service officials have crews standing by. If the storm knocks over power lines, officials say you should stay away and let crews clean it up.
