SHAWANO (WAOW) - The Shawano County Courthouse closed early Thursday as rain, sleet and snow moved across central Wisconsin.
Administrative Coordinator Tom Madsen said worries about a "sizeable ice storm" hitting the area prompted officials to close the courthouse at 1 p.m. so workers could get home safely.
"We just decided, better save than sorry," Madsen said.
The Shawano County Sheriff's Department said no accidents had been reported early Thursday afternoon as mostly rain continued to fall.
The snowmobile trails opened in Vilas CountyFriday at 5 p.m.
