It seems like winter weather just doesn't want to go away. If you're wondering if spring will ever get here, you're not alone.
Mother Nature has certainly given us a lot of snow to enjoy
this winter, which has made snowmobilers and skiers very happy.
Now, most winter activities are over.
Central Wisconsin has seen
a little bit of everything this winter—from snow to freezing rain and frigid
temperatures. In January, temperatures were so cold, an ice rink in Marshfield was closed
because of it. That winter weather is still dragging on.
"You can never get into that spring mode," said
Pamela Braun of Stratford.
"It's been a lot longer than most of us would like,"
said Townline Market Owner David Jagler.
That's a feeling shared by many.
"Definitely ready for spring. It would be nice not to
have the wind and the rain in your face," said Braun.
Even postal workers say they're sick of the weather.
"I'm ready for warmer temperatures," said Postal
Worker Nicholas Steger.
Jagler says it's all taking a toll on his customers.
"When people walk in, the first thing you talk about is
the weather," Jagler told Newsline 9.
He says one question is on everyone's mind, "when is summer
ever going to be here?"
Jagler says when the temperatures rise, his business goes
"Once you get that first warm day, people buy steaks
like crazy. So we're missing the warm weather, especially on Fridays and Saturdays,"
Coats and boots are needed every time you walk out the
door, but many are hoping that will soon be a thing of the past.
"When the sun comes out, and people come in with their
shorts on and no coats on, everybody's attitude changes," said Jagler.
"It would be nice to start wearing shorts and sandals
and all those good things that come with summer," said Braun.
While summer may seem so far away, some are still optimistic.
