MARATHON COUNTY (WAOW) -
Multiple crashes were reported Thursday night in Marathon County.

Overall, the Marathon County Sheriff's Department reports about 50 crashes and slide-offs since noon Thursday. Officials say there is a layer of ice coating nearly every road in the county, and they advise drivers to stay home.
A limited number of plow trucks are out on the roads, and they are only working on major highways, officials said.
Ramps are causing a problem for drivers, Marathon County Sheriff's officials said. The ice is causing cars to become stuck. Officials say the ramp from Business 51 to Highway 29 eastbound is closed due to icy conditions.
Hilly areas are also presenting problems to drivers in Marathon County.
In Portage County, traffic was stopped for an hour on Highway 10 near Stevens Point at North Lane and Deer Road. A Portage County dispatcher said power lines are down on the road. The cause was unclear, but there was a power pole fire, the dispatcher said.
Traffic is moving again and the scene has been cleared, according to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation.
In Wood County, dispatchers reported ice on the roads, but nothing unusual as far as crashes. Salt trucks are out treating the roads, officials there told Newsline 9.
Just one traffic crash has been reported in Lincoln County as of late Thursday, according to a dispatcher.
