Mother in custody in fatal Wis. fire that killed 3
WEST ALLIS, Wis. (AP) -- Officials say the three victims of a house fire in the Milwaukee suburb of West Allis are children and that their mother is in custody.
At a news conference Friday, authorities say 4-year-old twin boys and a 5-year-old girl died in the fire Thursday. Authorities say no adult was home at the time and that the mother has been arrested and is cooperating. Officials are looking for the children's father.
Agents from the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the state Department of Justice arrived Friday at the burned-out home. West Allis acting police Chief Charles Padgett says it's standard procedure to involve federal officials for fire investigations.
Padgett declined to say whether authorities suspect foul play. He says the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
