WISCONSIN RAPIDS (WAOW) - The 40-year-old man who police say used a hammer to smash several thousand dollars worth of windows at Marshfield Clinic in Marshfield pleaded not guilty Monday to four charges in the attack.
William Sachs of Spencer was charged in Wood County Circuit Court with two counts of felony criminal damage to property and two misdemeanor counts of disorderly conduct.
No trial date was immediately set, according to online court records.
Investigators said Sachs walked into the Marshfield Clinic urgent care center about 3:30 p.m. March 21 and started smashing glass windows and doors with a hammer. They say he then walked across campus and also broke windows at the Russell Lewis building. No one was hurt.
Jake Miller, a spokesman for Marshfield Clinic, said Monday that damage from the attack totaled about $13,000.
One year after a deadly shooting rampage in Marathon County, the community and businesses honored the four lives lost in different ways.
