UPDATE: Fire destroys unoccupied Plover home


PLOVER (WAOW) - Fire destroyed what police called an unoccupied Plover home early Friday.

Sgt. Paul Bushmaker said the home, along Highway 54 in the south side of the village, was fully engulfed in flames when a passerby reported the fire about 2:30 a.m.

The home was somewhat isolated, surrounded by woods and trees, and no other structures were threatened or damaged. Bushmaker said.

The cause of the fire remained under investigation late Friday, he said.


Firefighters are on the scene of a blaze in Plover.

According to Portage County Dispatch, a building on Post Road was fully engulfed, starting at 2:30 a.m. Friday.

No one was injured in the blaze.
