Marshfield students experience Spanish culture

Students in Marshfield got a taste of the Spanish culture today. Teachers say it's a year-long project for children at Columbus Catholic.

In the fall, younger students were matched up with older students as pen pals. They wrote letters to each other, completely in Spanish. Instructors say this is the best time to learn languages.

"Kids, when they're young, aren't afraid to learn something new. They're excited. They're like dry sponges, and whatever I tell them and it doesn't go away," said Columbus Catholic Spanish teacher Deborah Kennedy.

Students found out learning about different cultures can be really fun. They got to hit a piñata and eat some traditional Spanish food.
