Warm weather is certainly welcomed

It finally feels like Spring outside in most of Central Wisconsin. The warm weather is certainly a welcomed sight after a long winter.

Many people took advantage of the shining sun on Friday afternoon at Oak Island in Wausau. Some people were walking along River's Edge Trail while others pulled out those fishing polls to try their luck in what is probably some very cold water.

But, while the warm temps is making a lot of people happy, parks and recreation leaders say it's still too soon for some spring time activities.

"If people can be a bit patient we're getting there with the weather that's in the forecast, we're hoping the ground is going to dry out and we'll be posting conditions and field openings as its possible," Bill Duncanson, Parks, Forestry and Recreation director said.

Duncanson says a lot of recreational activities like the basketball courts at Marathon Park are open. Park leaders say it's really the trails and the campgrounds in our area that are still too wet for them to open.
