The show won't go on, at least not this year. Tuesday night, the Chippewa Valley Air Show's executive committee canceled this year's event.
The air show was scheduled for September, but suffered a major setback when the Navy recently canceled its performances for the rest of the year. The Navy's Blue Angels were supposed to perform at the air show, but federal budget cuts grounded the military's top jet demonstration teams.
The air show committee says should the sequester be reversed, it stands ready to reinstate the show as long as the timing is feasible. The group says it plans to apply for the Air Force Thunderbirds for next year's show. The Blue Angels already have their schedule set for 2014, but the air show will try to secure them for 2015.
