UPDATE: Dispute over money led to pistol incident

WISCONSIN RAPIDS (WAOW) - Police say a disagreement over money prompted an 81-year-old Wisconsin Rapids father to point a loaded pistol at his son.

Lt. Brian Krzykowski said Friday no one was hurt in the incident at Maples Mobile Park about 4 p.m. Thursday. The father was arrested.

Kryzkowski said when police arrived at the home, a phone call to the father, who lived there, led to the son being able to flee the home.

The father then threw the 9mm pistol out of the home and he was arrested, investigators said.

The disagreement involved some bills either not being paid or not being paid on time, Kryzkowski said.

"The father thought the money wasn't being handled correctly," Kryzkowski said.

Police were alerted to the dispute by a call from another son who was not at the home at the time, Kryzkowski said.

Wisconsin Rapids Police were able to diffuse a standoff Thursday.

According to a news release, authorities responded to a call around 4:00 p.m. that an 81-year-old man was holding a gun to another person's head. When officers arrived to the scene at Maples Mobile Park in Wisconsin Rapids, they say they were able to make phone contact with the suspect. After a short standoff, officers say the victim was able to exit the home unharmed.

Officials say the suspect, a Wisconsin Rapids man, also eventually exited the home and was arrested. The incident remains under investigation.
