UPDATE: Investigation continues after remains found in Taylor Co.

TAYLOR COUNTY (WAOW) -

Lincoln County Sheriff's Officials say the investigation into human remains found in Taylor County is ongoing.

Authorities did not release new information Saturday, only saying that they are not linking the remains to the case of missing Merrill-area woman Anita Bucki at this time.

This comes after Taylor County officials wrapped up their work Friday night where human remains were found in a wooded area.

Sheriff's officials from Taylor and Lincoln counties spent Friday near County Highway C and Highway 64 near Medford. Part of County Highway C was closed but it's since re-opened. Officials from the Department of Justice said they were treating the area as a crime scene.

Larry Sprotte said he and his wife found what they first thought was a pile of clothes while walking near their home. When they got a closer look, and saw human remains, they called police.

"It didn't make any sense to me why anybody would throw something that far back in the woods, you know, off the road," said Sprotte.

Officials say they were working with the Wisconsin State Crime Lab to determine the identity of these remains.

Lincoln County authorities have been searching for a missing woman, Anita Bucki, for two weeks. Lincoln and Taylor County authorities aren't linking the remains found Friday to the search for Anita Bucki at this time.
