WAUSAU (WAOW) -
Soccer players in our area are joining in on the fight against cancer.
The third annual "Chicks that Kick to Cure" fundraiser was held Tuesday afternoon.
High school girls soccer teams from the Wausau-Metro area are helping to raise money for the American Cancer Society Relay for Life.
A table was set up on the field with t-shirts and bracelets on sale to raise that money.
Organizers say they're goal is to collect about $1,500.
"This event is very important because it raises awareness for not only the importance of cancer in our community but it gives back a lot of the funds that stay right here within the greater Wausau area," said organizer Jill Depke.
Wausau East took on Wausau West for the kick-off to the fundraiser. Organizers say next week both of those teams will face D.C. Everest.
