Merrill's Lindsay Krueger recently had a streak of five home runs in five games, which might be why her head coach calls her a phenomenal ball player. Family is why our Athlete of the Week became interested in sports, but helping other families is why she's leaving athletics all together.
Krueger has spent her last four years at merrill playing three different sports. Volleyball, basketball, and softball
"I actually started sports when my older sister got into sports, she played softball as well. Just going to her tournaments, going to her games really inspired me to play and a bunch of my family play sports as well.
The two-year captain is headed to UW-Madison in the fall, but not as an athlete.
"That was a tough decision for me. Not going to college for a sport. But I think academics is the way to go. I am interested in family medicine, becoming a family doctor. The possibilities are endless."
Krueger says she'll pursue playing club or intramural sports in Madison. As far as rooting for the badgers, "I'll be just as good a fan as I am an athlete."
