Dozens of motorcycle riders hit the pavement for a good cause -- even as wet weather put a damper on a yearly tradition.
This weekend hundreds of motorcycles and more than a thousand people will take part in the annual Wausau Fire Charity Ride. The event kicked off with the annual parade on Friday night. The event unites riders from across the Midwest.
"I've talked to people already today from all over the state, from Illinois, I know we have some coming from Minnesota and Iowa," said Kevin Hicks.
It was that camaraderie that brought Jerry Miller out for the first ride 10 years ago.
"I just like meeting the people," said Miller. "It's fun just getting together with a great group of people."
But this weekend is more than reving engines and good times. It's also to raise money for charity. Organizers say they hope to raise $20,000 during the two day event.
"We're raffling off a motorcycle," said Hicks. "The money for that goes toward the M.D.A. All the other money raised stays local this year, going to local charities."
