Packers wrap-up tailgate tour in Wisconsin Rapids

Members of the Green Bay Packers have been reaching out to communities across the state and Iowa over the last five days. Today, the Packers wrapped up their tailgate tour in Wisconsin Rapids.

There were surprises and lots of smiles from Packers fans as current and former members of the green and gold traveled around Wisconsin Rapids to reach out to the community in a unique way.

Packers fans young and old came out to Witter Field in Wisconsin Rapids to see their favorite players up close and personal.

Tailgate tour celebrities included wide receiver Randall Cobb, former offensive guard Aaron Taylor and Packers President and CEO Mark Murphy.

"It's been great. The whole tour," Murphy said. "This is our fifth stop and this is a really nice setting, I feel like I'm in Cooperstown or field of dreams. It's great to see the interaction between the fans and our players."

Fans participated in a Q&A session with them before lining up to get their autographs and have an afternoon of fun with the green and gold.

"It's been great just going to all the different towns and communities and interacting with fans," Cobb said. "It's very special to understand what it means to be a packer and see how many packer fans there really is, it's unbelievable."

The event raises money for Opportunity Development Centers, or ODC, which helps people with disabilities find jobs. Before heading over to Witter field, the tailgate tour visited VIP guests at a special luncheon.

"This has been a once in a lifetime opportunity truly for Wisconsin Rapids and for ODC," ODC President Pam Ross said. "To have the Green Bay Packers coming here as an outreach tour and then for us to be the host and receive all the proceeds from the event. It's just so exciting."

Besides raising money, the Packers brought smiles to the community, one fan at a time.
