STEVENS POINT (WAOW) -

Stevens Point police say a man was seriously injured after being hit by a car Saturday night.

They say the incident happened near the I-39 off ramp for Business 51 in Stevens Point around 7:45 p.m.

A sergeant with the Stevens Point Police Department says the man intentionally drove his car off the road in the area, and then ran into traffic.

He says that's when the man was hit by a car.

Police are not releasing the man's name, but say he was flown by helicopter to a Marshfield hospital. They say his injuries did not look to be life-threatening.

Authorities say no one has been cited after the incident and police are still investigating what happened.
