Wood County authorities say a 49-year-old woman from Wisconsin Rapids was injured after her car hit a power pole Sunday afternoon.
The Pittsville Fire Chief says the crash happened around noon on County Highway A. The road was closed for some time while crews responded to the scene.
Authorities say the woman was flown by helicopter to St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield. They say her injuries did not appear to be life-threatening.
The crash did knock down the power pole and several power lines in the area.
Our reporter at the scene says Alliant Energy crews were working to restore power. No word from officials there when people living in the area would have power restored.
Investigators say alcohol and drugs do not appear to be factors in the crash, but they say it looks like the driver fell asleep at the wheel before hitting the power pole.
