Severe weather potential extends into Monday

The risk of strong to severe thunderstorms exists on Monday for much of Central Wisconsin.

According to the Storm Prediction Center of the National Weather Service, the risk of severe weather extends from northern Michigan across Wisconsin and incorporates much of Minnesota, Illinois, Iowa, Missouri and then extending into areas of Oklahoma, Kansas, Arkansas and Texas on Monday.

The risk comes after several tornado watches and severe thunderstorm warnings were issued in parts of Wisconsin late on Sunday night and early Monday morning.

A slow-moving storm system that is centered west of Wisconsin will continue to spin across the northern Midwest on Tuesday.  Aided by stronger winds in the higher levels of the atmosphere, strong to severe weather is possible across much of the region.

People should remain alert to the possibility of severe weather developing on Monday and have a method of being informed to breaking weather alerts.
