Athletes began their road to the state track and field championships at the Division 1 DC Everest Regionals.
Wausau West took home the girls team regional championship, with a 20-point margin of victory over SPASH. Meanwhile, the Panthers' boys team claimed the top spot in the overall standings, with Marshfield and D.C. Everest taking second and third respectively.
Rhinelander's Vince Berry won the boys' pole vault, clearing a height of 13 feet, 9 inches, before failing to clear the 14 feet mark in all three of his attempts. Antigo's Caleb Hohensee placed second, clearing a height of 13 feet, 6 inches.
Marshfield' Keiron Howlett won both the triple jump and long jump competitions. His teammate, Matt Oestriech, took second in both events.
