It'sbeing called one of the worst tornadoes on record. Hundreds of homeswere destroyed and thousands of people were left with nothing. Now,in the aftermath of this tragedy, many people in central Wisconsinwant to help.
"TheAmerican support is always gladly, gladly welcomed," said RegionalDirector of the American Red Cross, Lora Hainy.
That'swhy Red Cross officials have set up a donation web site, called theDisaster Relief Fund. Allthe money donated goes directly to Oklahoma, where officials say it'sused for clothing, food and shelter.
"Atthis point a financial donation is really the best we can do in orderto make the operations successful on the ground," Hainy toldNewsline 9.
Sohow can you give a donation? Just go to www.redcross.org.Under the disaster relief fund, click donate and enter then enter theamount.
"There'salways an out pouring of support by people in times of tragedy and Ithink that's what makes the U.S. such a great place to live," saidHainy.
Ifyou can't make a financial donation, Red Cross leaders say there areother ways to help, like donating to a local food pantry.
"Foodbanks around the nation will start to send supplies to Oklahoma whichmeans that locally food banks could start to deplete," saidHainy.
Nomatter what you donate, Red Cross leaders say in times of tragedyevery little bit helps.
