Traveling memorial makes its way to Wausau

A traveling memorial that honors those who lost their lives at war has made its way to our area just in time for Memorial Day.

The exhibit honors the 132 Wisconsin servicemen and women who died at war. It's called, "Remembering Our Fallen."

The memorial stands 60 feet long as a wall of pictures of those that gave the ultimate sacrifice.

In addition to the memorial, the event will also serve as a fundraiser for the Gold Star Mother's memorial, a memorial dedicated to those women who have lost children due to war.

"You have a purpose to do things. Our big things is we have our families to support us, no matter where you're at and I've been in some bad places in my time in the military but you always think about your family and they'll take care of you no matter what happens," Julian Sonnentag, Commander of VFW Post 492 said.

The event is being held at The Patriot Center in Rothschild. It runs Thursday-Sunday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. It's sponsored by the local VFW and American Legion.
