Minocqua getting ready for the start of summer tourism

Many holiday travelers will be heading up north this weekend for the unofficial kick off to summer. And people there are getting excited for it.

"The snow is gone, the ice is off the lakes, we're ready for people to come up and visit," said Kim Baltus, Minocqua Area Chamber of Commerce. "I know our businesses, our resorts, our hotels have really been working hard get their areas all cleaned up and spruced up for people."

Businesses there are ready to soak it all up. The Waters of Minocqua is already sold out for Saturday. Managers say they hope that's a sign of what's to come.

"I think we have a lot of weddings and a lot of things happening here at the waters so I think it's going to be a great summer," said Lisa Bilogan, The Waters of Minocqua General Manager.

In downtown Minocqua, other business owners are also celebrating the start of the season.

"It's kind of like the town is having a party and we're the host of the party," said Woody Woodruff, Loon Land Trading Co. Owner.

To help all the tourists, the Minocqua Area Chamber of Commerce is open 24-hours a day.
