Police: Merrill convicted felon still missing

MERRILL (WAOW) - The Lincoln County Sheriff's Department says a Merrill man who fled from his probation agent and likely cut off his electronic monitoring bracelet on May 15 may be in the Baraboo area.

Officer Mike Caylor said Wednesday that investigators believe 36-year-old Christopher Meindel may be "hanging out" with a friend he met in prison.

Caylor said that is the only lead investigators have received in Meindel's disappearance.

Meindel was free on a signature bond on some drug charges related to a November 2012 meth lab investigation and on probation as a convicted felon on the day he fled, Caylor said.

Caylor says Meindel is 5-foot 10 inches tall, weighs 170 pounds, has blonde hair and blue eyes and wears multiple tattoos on both arms.

Anyone with information Meinde is asked to call the Lincoln County Sheriff's Department at 715-536-6272.
