PRAIRIE DU CHIEN, Wis. (AP) -- Specialists from the National Weather Service are surveying damage from a powerful storm that moved through southwestern Wisconsin.
The storm with high winds and heavy rain knocked over campers and uprooted trees at a campground near Prairie du Chien Wednesday night. Witnesses reported seeing a funnel cloud.
Weather service forecasters are looking over damage at the campground, in Richland Center and south of Viroqua Thursday to determine if a tornado touched down. Authorities say no one was injured when the Jelly Stone Campground was damaged.
Richland County Emergency Management officials say several businesses in Richland Center were damaged by the storm. In Trempealeau County, there are reports of scattered trees down and power outages.
