Hundreds show up to support Special Olympics fundraiser
MARATHON (WAOW) -
A big fundraiser for Special Olympics of Wisconsin kicked off Saturday in Marathon City.
The 12th annual Marathon Fun Run event featured a kickball tournament and a motorcycle ride.
Organizers said they decided to add kickball to the mix to encourage more people to take part.
"It's awesome it's so great to see everyone come out and support special olympics and the community here today, to do something different," said Special Olympics Regional Development Director, Alyssa Matelski.
"It's great because two years ago we decided there's really nothing going on and kickball has really started to come back and people are enjoying, it's a lot of fun," said Marathon Fun Run Coordinator, Andrew Crabb.
Organizers said at least 200 people came to the event today.
They hoped to raise about $10,000 for Special Olympics of Wisconsin.
