Children's Miracle Network Telethon breaks fundraising record

A landmark Children’s Miracle Network Telethon in Marshfield became even more special this weekend when a fundraising record was broken.

CMN celebrated its 25th annual telethon for North Central Wisconsin at Ministry St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital.

The event, televised Saturday and Sunday on WAOW, raised $754,302. The previous record was $732,120 back in 2007.

"It was exciting to reach an all-time record at our 25th Anniversary," says Patti Shafto-Carlson, the Director of Development for Children Services.

Each year, CMN features “Miracle Children.” We share their stories of hardship and perseverance, as well as how CMN has helped them.

For the 25th Anniversary, CMN invited back former Miracle Children, and their families, to see what their lives have been like since they were originally featured.

"It was very inspiring to see our past Miracle Children grown with children of their own, and how these past challenges have made them better parents today," says Shafto-Carlson.

100 percent of the proceeds raised at the telethon stay in North Central Wisconsin to help provide programs, services, and treatment for sick and injured children. Funds also are used to support programs that seek to prevent children's injuries, and promote healthy lifestyles in these communities.

This year’s telethon was hosted by Melissa Langbehn, Bryon Graff, and Alex Haight.
