Republican budget committee co-chair Rep. John Nygren says the framework for a deal on the three largest remaining undecided items in the state budget is in place, but "we're not there yet."
Nygren spoke Monday as Republicans tried to reach a deal that could be voted on by the Joint Finance Committee on Tuesday.
Nygren says he thinks the deal will be in place for a final committee vote Tuesday. From there, the budget will go to the Assembly and Senate, both controlled by Republicans.
The largest remaining items deal with voucher school expansion and public education funding, Medicaid and income taxes.
Democrats on Monday called on Republicans to reject voucher expansion and Walker's tax cut plan and instead spend more on public schools.
