Kenosha businessman fatally shot in Jamaica

KENOSHA, Wis. (AP) - A Kenosha businessman is killed by gunfire in Jamaica.

David Barnes' company says he was caught in the crossfire of a shooting in western Jamaica on Saturday. Police had confronted gunmen who were trying to commit a robbery.

The 52-year-old Barnes owns Cost Cutters salons in Kenosha, Racine, Sturtevant and Burlington. The Cost Cutters regional office confirmed his death.

Friends say Barnes cared about his community. He was on the board of directors for the Boys and Girls Club of Kenosha. Club spokesman Ron Stevens tells the Kenosha News ( ) Barnes was a big part of the organization and its history.

The U.S. Embassy says Barnes' family has been notified of his death. Embassy officials are awaiting an official report from Jamaican authorities.
