Drivers stop to help geese on Highway 41

The Brown County Sheriff's Office is talking about a YouTube video that shows drivers who stopped to help baby geese in the middle of the Highway 41 construction project.

"That's Northeast Wisconsin. We can't help it," Captain Randy Schultz of the Brown County Sheriff's Office told WBAY-TV in Green Bay. "It's not uncommon for law enforcement to have to do traffic enforcement around a stalled vehicle because there are so many people stopping to help."

Schultz says he still can't believe this rescue attempt didn't end in tragedy.

Authorities say the geese were saved and nobody was hurt.

Sergeant John Jones with the Wisconsin State Patrol told WBAY that the drivers put their lives at risk.

"I tell ya, you don't want to put your life on the line, let alone your family, for an animal," said Jones. "A lot of people could have been killed on that."
