TOMAHAWK (WAOW) – The Oneida County Sheriff's Department says a Harshaw man was killed Thursday when the car he was driving collided with a semi-truck on U.S. Highway 51 north of Tomahawk.
Jason Smoker, 42, died in the crash, the agency said Friday.
Sheriff Grady Hartman said the crash happened just minutes after a 911 call reported a reckless driver northbound on the highway.
Another 911 call four minutes later at 2:02 p.m. reported the crash about three miles north of U.S. Highway 8, the sheriff said in a statement.
Hartman said the investigation indicates the automobile crossed over the center line and struck the semi's trailer.
The driver of the car was alone, the sheriff said.
