People enjoying heat rather than beating it

It's been a long winter and a wet, chilly spring.

But now, it finally feels like summer.

Temperatures topped out in the 80s in many places Tuesday.

Newsline 9 found many people enjoying the sunshine in a variety of ways.

A group of YMCA campers spent the day playing games. Campers say they love when the weather warms up.

At the Rothschild Aquatic Center, business is just starting to pick up after cold, rainy weather forced the pool to stay closed until just this week.

Golf courses are also busy. Employees at Pine Valley in Marathon say golfers don't mind the heat. Just ask Earl Babbitts.

"I don't believe in air conditioning so for me, it's hot in my house and it's hot outside. I'm used to it," he said.

Babbitts is a regular at Pine Valley.

"If there's a break of a couple hours in a day I'll come out and hit golf balls," said Babbitts.

And he hits it straight—most of the time.

So whether it's playing outdoors, swimming, or golfing, these people say they're enjoying the heat rather than beating it.

And there's more good news. Forecasters say temperatures should stay above 70 degrees across much of our viewing area for the rest of the week.
