Strong storms rumbling through Wisconsin tonight

Doppler radar is indicating some strong thunderstorms have been able to converge over parts of Wisconsin tonight.

According to the National Weather Service, penny-size hail, wind gusts between 40 and 45 mph and locally heavy rain are possible in locations that experience thunderstorms this evening.

The storms have been able to develop thanks to a disturbance in the atmosphere and a surface boundary in the northern half of the state. Both features can cause uplift, which can trigger thunderstorm development.

Though the storms are expected to remain isolated in nature this evening, as the boundary triggering them moves southward into Central Wisconsin overnight Sunday and through Monday, scattered showers and thunderstorms can be expected to follow.

Stay tuned to Newsline 9 for updated information if and when the National Weather Service issues any weather watches or warnings.
