Wausau's Concerts on the Square are back

Music filled the air in downtown Wausau.

The popular Wednesday night summer concerts kicked off.

Hundreds of people packed Wausau's 400 Block for live music and good times.

This is the 20th year for the event and organizers say it's still going strong.

Sly Joe & The Smooth Operators performed.

Wausau Area Events organizers say the event has grown in popularity.

Some people now bring chairs in the morning to reserve their perfect spot for the show.  New this year, several vendors sell food along 4th Street.

"Concerts on the square we never have a problem with crowds, we opened up 4th Street this year to food vendors so we wanted to let people know we have great downtown restaurants and food vendors they can go to as well," said Kari Rasmussen, Director of Wausau Area Events.

The concerts run from 6 to 8 p.m.
