Threat of severe weather won't stop Badger State Games

The Badger State Games kick off this weekend, even with the threat of severe weather.

Organizers said they expect more than 1,300 athletes to take part in this weekend's summer games.

The games feature almost a dozen events, including swimming, golfing and soccer.

Organizers said even if severe weather becomes a problem, they have a plan to work around it.

"All the events will run, several of them are indoors, the outdoor events, if there's rain, many of them will continue to run, but if we have thunderstorms, that's the time when we'll delay events until those pass," said Darien Schaefer, Wausau Visitors Bureau Executive Director.

This is the second year for the summer Badger Games in Wausau.

Organizers said it's expected to bring in more than half-a-million dollars.
