Heavy rain causes flash flooding in western Wis.

Heavy rain has led to flash flooding in parts of southwestern Wisconsin.

The National Weather Service says northern Grant County was hit especially hard.

It says most streets in Boscobel flooded early Saturday, leaving some cars under water, and many homes sustained water damage. Some evacuations were ordered.

Boscobel had received nearly 8 inches of rain by Saturday morning. A mudslide northwest of Boscobel closed U.S. Highway 61.

Boscobel is a community of about 3,200 people on the Wisconsin River.

Elsewhere in Wisconsin, a lightning strike was also blamed for a gas line break small fire at a Milwaukee home early Saturday.
