Raptors in the Gardens brings interesting birds to Wausau

Some unique birds were on display Saturday morning for a special event in Wausau.

People visited the Robert W. Monk Gardens to get an up close look at owls, hawks and crows.

Organizers said it's a great way to learn more about the birds.

They said this event also helps raise money for the garden and the Raptor Education Group in Antigo.

"It's been a great reaction, the kids love it, the kids get to throw dollar bills to Lenny our crow and she catches them, they get to get up real close to the owls, they get to get up close to the hawks, it's great to see that everybody's been really enjoying it," said Abbey Ruppert, Raptor Education Group.

Organizers said money raised helps the Raptor Education Group buy supplies to nurse injured birds back to health.
